Our Wine Varietal Listing

Wine grape varieties represent only a small portion of the more than 600 kinds of grapes. Each grape variety has its own unique combination of characteristics including color, size, skin thickness, acidity, yield per vine and flavors. Only a few of the many grape varieties are suited to produce fine quality wine.

While many grape varieties are used to produce wines, only a few grapes have distinguished themselves as being particulary suited for the production of fine wine. These 'noble grape varieties' must still be matched with the right micro-climate and winemaking techniques in order to live up to their potential.
Our wine tasting club, Centaine C鰡ges is on a quest to discover and taste as many of the varietals as possible. This alphabetized listing here shows many of the varietals available and alll of the varietals that we have sampled during in-store wine tastings. The varietals that have been tasted are marked with a bullet point (or insert graphic here)
On this list, each varietal contains a description and wherever possible the listing shows the alternative names by which that grape varietal is known.
